Salomon Slowcross
SlowCross is an experimental, entirely handmade reinterpretation of the Salomon Speedcross, exploring performance through vernacular design, repairability and low-tech manufacturing.
Inspired by the traditional wooden architecture of Austria’s Vorarlberg region, the project translates principles of local craftsmanship and adaptive construction into footwear. Challenging technological excess, SlowCross proposes a more grounded approach to innovation, where repair and ageing adopts strong contextual relevance.
In April 2024, the project was presented to Salomon’s Head of Design as a proposal for an alternative approach to progressive performance footwear.
